About me

My name is Anne Ambler and this page gives some information about myself, my qualifications and experience.

I qualified as an Accredited Play Therapist with Play Therapy United Kingdom (PTUK) after completing my Post-graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play (2004); Post-graduate Diploma in Play Therapy (2005) and Master of Arts in Practice-based Play Therapy (2007) then continuing my post qualifying training to become a Filial Play Coach (2010) and a Clay Therapist (2013).
I am also a Senior Clinical Supervisor of trainee and qualified Play and Creative Arts Therapists (2008).
Before undertaking my Play Therapy training I worked in schools for 10 years as a Teaching Assistant. During this time I began to look for a different way to talk to and to be with children. My search took me to a course held at a local college entitled "Skills for Counselling Children and Young People". This course was validated by PTUK and was my introduction and way in to Play Therapy. I tutored that course in Huntingdon for 3 years before going on to offer the course "Counselling Children and Adolescents: A Creative Approach" in conjunction with Bridging Creative Therapies Consultancy.

Since 2016 it has been my privilege to teach the Post Graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills for APAC and Leeds Beckett University.

My passion is to offer children healing of their hurts and emotional disturbances in a meaningful and effective way without the need for sophisticated language. Children naturally work through play and this provides the communication mode in which they are comfortable and relaxed.

In 2013 I completed my training as a Certified Clay Therapist and now offer clay therapy and also supervision - individual and group - using the meduim of clay. Please enquire for further details.

I am a full member of Play Therapy UK and work to the PTUK Ethical Standards and clinical governance. I hold a clean and current CRB check and am fully insured. My committment to continuous professional development ensures my skills and knowledge are kept current.

All my clinical work is fully supervised by a qualified and experienced Clinical Supervisor on a regular and on-going basis.

I am on the PTUK Register of Play and Creative Arts Therapists that has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. My registration number for PTUK is 212.
